Day 12 & 13 - Monday & Tuesday Sept. 17 & 18, 2007 - Symposium Monday and Tuesday we were in Hamilton at the hotel that we were a part of a Language Symposium. Monday consisted of mostly the Maori group from various schools and practices with regard to the language revitalization. We got to meet 2 of the "founders" of the marches and fight for Maori language against the British Government. The second day (Tuesday) consisted of our group ILI (Indigenous Language Institute) to discuss what is happening with regard to language with Native American's of the US and Canada. Following the event was a full evening of entertainment from various Maori performing artist. Oh yeah, you have to check out the picture of Nate and myself...he is the one with the face tattoo. Yes, Maori tattoos are prevalent with the Maori people. |
